Special Interest Tours

A range of special interest tours have been planned for interested delegates. Tours will depart from the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Tour 1: Art Gallery of South Australia

$25, including transport and experienced guides

Take a tour of our outstanding collections with an experienced Gallery Guide. The tour includes a brief history of Australian art and introductions to Indigenous and Contemporary Art, highlighting key works from the Art Gallery of South Australia's collection.

Tour 2: The South Australian Museum

$30, including transport and experienced guides


The Friends of the South Australian Museum conduct special group tours of the SA Museum. The Museum has world class cultural exhibitions from South Australia and beyond. The Museum's attractions include the Bio Diversity Gallery which opened in March this year, the largest collection of Australian Aboriginal cultural objects in the world and mummies in the Egyptian Gallery.

Tour 3: Indigenous Culture at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens

A 45 minute bush food trail conducted at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens by an experienced, qualified Aboriginal Cultural Guide. Adelaide Botanic Garden is a historic garden on the Adelaide Plains and includes living plant collections such as natives, palms, cycads, bromeliads and many spectacular mature trees and shrubs that are of significant cultural and natural heritage.

Tour 4: National Wine Centre of Australia

Built in 2000 as a joint State and Federal Government venture, The National Wine Centre is a unique function centre with two educational rooms used for Wine Education Courses and meetings. The educational tasting and guided tour will take you through the best South Australia has to offer - whether you are a seasoned wine enthusiast, or a complete novice, this fully guided tasting will extend your knowledge and enhance your enjoyment of South Australian wines.

A range of centre tours have been planned for interested delegates. Tours will depart from the Adelaide Convention Centre. Each tour costs $50, including transport and experienced guides.

Tour 5: The Briars Special Early Learning Centre

The Briars Special Early Learning Centre is a Department of Education and Children's Services (DECS) facility. The Briars is recognised as a centre of expertise and a model of best practice in the preschool education of children with disabilities and high support needs.

il nido Children's Centre for Early Childhood Development and Parenting has a long commitment to innovation and research in the provision of care and education for young children, with the educators being leaders in the field of implementation of attachment theory, primary care giving and learning stories.

Tour 6: Kensington Gardens Preschool

The Kensington Gardens Preschool uses the principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy in its learning curriculum. The indoor area offers various learning areas that encourage children to self-start, self-direct and engage in learning independently and with peers, with the outdoor learning environment offering wetlands, boardwalk, frog pond, man-made creek and outdoor theatre.

Tour 6: Stradbroke Junior Primary School

Stradbroke Junior Primary School is an authorised world-class International Baccalaureate school offering the Primary Years (IBPYP) program in conjunction with the South Australian Curriculum, Standards and Accountability Framework. Central to their programs is a focus on literacy, numeracy, ICT, environmental education and student well-being and are a recognised environmentally-sustainable school.

All tours will proceed subject to sufficient demand. Places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
