About the venue

We had record attendance numbers at the 2016 ECA National Conference in Darwin, so we have booked the biggest venue possible this year: the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney!

Recently opened, the ICC will ensure that our conference delegates have space to connect and network, and enough room for everyone to participate in the plenary sessions. The ICC has Australia's largest ballroom, the world's best technology, plus spectacular sweeping water and city views—the perfect space to learn and reflect.

ECA National President, Ros Cornish’s top three picks

  1. I am looking forward to the plenary session with Professor Paul Ramchandani. It is hoped that his work around play in children’s early development will remind us of the important role of play, which at times is not valued or understood.
  2. Can’t wait to hear the panel’s views on ‘Ethical leadership’—particularly given the ECA Code of Ethics and how they may align their views to this powerful document.
  3. As always, the ECA Board Hot Topics will raise a range of issues for discussion—love this open mic session!

Speaker spotlight: Stan Grant

Talking to my country

Drawing on his personal history as a Wiradjuri man and his professional history as a journalist reporting from conflict zones around the world, Stan Grant confronts the big questions about who we want to be as a nation.

Stan Grant

The big question about whether Australia can be a country that fully enshrines the rights of Indigenous peoples, that wrestles with its past, that draws a line through its history, and that gives Indigenous peoples the opportunity to make decisions about their lives that will lift Indigenous peoples and communities.
